# App Menu & DropBy kills the panel

After updating 20.04 on 04/29/20 the panel was blank. I reset it with “nohup budgie-panel --reset --replace &” but none of the applets returned. After experimenting I found if I had Applications Menu applet or DropBy applet installed the panel will remain blank and I can not access desktop settings to see what is listed in the panel. If I remove the mentioned applets and reset the panel the others all return.  
Also Plank stopped auto starting.

hmm - check that you have the UB packages installed:

```
sudo apt install --reinstall ubuntu-budgie-desktop budgie-desktop-environment
```

I ran that and now when I reinstall App Menu from Budgie Welcome and then go to add it to the panel after I chose and click add applet I get signed out to the log in screen.

Try reinstalling the budgie desktop and gnome-control-center components again:

```auto
sudo apt install --reinstall budgie-desktop budgie-core gir1.2-budgie-1.0 libbudgie-plugin0 libbudgie-private0 libbudgietheme0 libraven0 gnome-control-center

```

Install:

```
sudo apt install budgie-dropby-applet
budgie-desktop-settings

```

Then add the dropby applet to your panel

What is the output in the terminal from the install, running settings and adding the applet to your panel?

running ```budgie-desktop-settings’`` just opens settings, no terminal output.  
DropBy applet isn’t in the add applet list. Will reboot and recheck.

DropBy applet was in add applet list and after selecting it and clicking add applet desktop settings closes.

Please purge the daily extra ppa

```
sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntubudgie-dev/budgie-extras-daily

```

Then logout and login

thx - yes. Two missing schemas were not installed. Today’s daily build should hopefully resolve this. Will need to check this once the build has been built.
