I tried giving a process higher priority in the app, but then the `mate-system-montor` became unresponsive. I terminated it by terminal. Then I noted `budgie-polkit-diaglog` took a lot CPU resources. I terminated it, too. This in in Budgie Desktop 26.04..

ack. Sometimes the polkit dialog decides to have an off day. As you have noted killing the process works. You can then restart it manually

```auto
nohup /usr/libexec/budgie-desktop/budgie-polkit-dialog &
```

Then any polkit dialog including mate sysmonitor changing the priority will display the polkit dialog.

After I added the “sleep 10” thing you advised in another thread I can elevate the priority of a process, but there is no polkit dialog asking anything. I am using the live session where the password is null.

Or maybe there flashes a dialog, if increase priority after some time.

You will get very odd live-session issues like this. Its just the way a live-session works. I’m more interested in resolving actual installed issues.
