I recently updated from 24.04 to 26.04. I’m having an issue where no matter which monitor or externial display I use, wdisplay doesn’t remember the postion or resolution settings when I disconnect and reconnect. Any ideas why this is happening?

Hi and welcome,

monitor info etc should be remembered and applied via budgie-desktop-services.

Lets first check if its running correctly:

```auto
ps -ef | grep org.buddiesofbudgie.Services
dad 2493 2484 0 21:29 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/org.buddiesofbudgie.Services
dad 10109 4948 0 21:54 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto org.buddiesofbudgie.Services
```

That should report that org.buddiesofbudgie.Services is running.

If it is then lets move on - I spotted this issue raise upstream - is this your issue?

Here are the results i got so it looks like it’s working.

dominic@DomLinux:~$ ps -ef | grep org.buddiesofbudgie.Services
dominic 3296 3288 0 13:41 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/org.buddiesofbudgie.Services
dominic 37624 36813 0 13:46 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto org.buddiesofbudgie.Services

I read the article and no there’s is slightly different. That article describes that its saving the configuration but not applying it. Mine wont even save the configuration. I will move the external display so its above my laptop screen and click apply.

But then when I disconnect and reconnect it always reverts the settings back to default, not remembering the resolution or the position I set it to.

Which mean that every time I connect to my dock which has 2 monitors. I need to go into displays, move them to the correct positions, and change them all to the correct resolution
