# Sound problem after update to 18.10

Hi, I’ve got a problem. After updating to 18.10, my audio died. All I could see with the sound setting is the S/PDIF digital out (which is not connected). I’ve already unmuted everything in alsamixer and pavucontrol is showing everything as unplugged, even if I am connected via HDMI to the display.  
The only thing I managed to do is to play the audio via the Line-Out even if it says that it is unplugged, but I would really like to be able to play sound via HDMI. Do you have any solutions?

Sound issues are generic to all Ubuntu & flavours. Audio experts hang out on [ubuntuforums.org](http://ubuntuforums.org) and [askubuntu.com](http://askubuntu.com) - so I would recommend you ask on those two more generic forums.
