When I upgraded this laptop to UB 24.04 I removed the snap version of Thunderbird and installed the deb version as outlined in the article below.

> **[How to Install Thunderbird as DEB (Not Snap) in Ubuntu 24.04 | UbuntuHandbook](https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2024/03/install-thunderbird-deb-ubuntu-2404/)**

So, imagine my surprise when the unattended-upgrade on 10/24 removed the deb version and reinstalled the snap version. So, what gives, do I need to remove the snap daemon to prevent this in the future?

Start-Date: 2024-10-24 06:29:15
Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade
Upgrade: thunderbird:amd64 (1:115.15.0+build1-0ubuntu0.24.04.1~mt1, 2:1snap1-0ubuntu3)
End-Date: 2024-10-24 06:29:45

Hi @makitso.
I installed Thunderbird [this way](https://discourse.ubuntubudgie.org/t/problem-with-thunderbird/7327/3) and had the same experience you had.
I didn’t look any further than that.

Have a look at “Step 6” on this page and give it a try:

> **[How to Install Thunderbird DEB on Ubuntu 24.04 (Not Snap) - OMG! Ubuntu](https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/08/install-thunderbird-deb-not-snap-in-ubuntu-24-04)**

Maybe I should try this myself. 🤔
