# Ubuntu budgie 24 Which version supports wayland

ubuntu budgie is currently **x11** by default and intends to install an Android emulator, **waydroid** ([https://waydro.id/](https://waydro.id/)), which requires a wayland environment.

- ubuntu budgie replaced wayland environment, I do not know whether it is stable

The wayland version of budgie desktop will be offered via a ppa for 25.04 users with the intention to be stable for 25.10 and later

And if you are interested this is how i made waydroid run in budgie 24.04. Basically it runs within a mutter container

ENV: Ubuntu budgie 24.04.2 + X11 + mutter 46.2

Using this script, it can not run as well as you, the following warning is displayed, the running mutter window has no content, I do not know what is wrong.
