The Ubuntu Budgie team meets once a month to discuss recent updates and what’s coming next for Ubuntu Budgie. **Meeting notes from Ubuntu Budgie team meeting of 15 December 2024, 16:30 UTC.**

**Distro Updates**

- Upstream Budgie work on wayland, ideally land fedora wayland release on the upcoming release.
- Ubuntu Budgie focus on 3rd week of February.
- The new budgie Wayland Display Manager QT6 needs packaging. Not officiall released yet and thus not likely to land on Debian before release date.
- Re-work workspace manager for wayland is ongoing upstream.
- Bluetooth management part will be changing to QT6.
- Magpie to come later.
- Libinput area to concentrate on.
- Next month we need a decision if landing wayland on main repos or PPA.
- It is likely that it lands on a PPA for the upcoming release.
- Challenges with xfce packages. xfce is preparing to release 4.20.
- Shuffler not going to work on wayland, requires some focused work.
- Screen locker? Initial thought is to use sway lock or anything that is available until higher priority items are done.
- Raspi PI work coming up in the upcoming weeks.
- Budgie welcome being re-worked by @GrindamN .
- Getting started page.
- Focusing on code cleanup.

**Default apps choices needed for 25.04**

- email
  - Thunderbird removed from the seed.
  - email ballot page to be added to budgie welcome, with popular email clients. @ilvipero to take screenshots of email clients and share with the team, @fossfreedom will add a page to the welcome.

**Other updates**

- Expense claims for 2024 are complete and reimbursed.
- @fossfreedom to consolidate donations to OpenCollective
- Ubuntu Discourse policy change: Support questions are now allowed, flavours are welcome to move.
- Budgie shop - last mile work need to plug in payment method and then order a few things.

**Singing topics**

- @ilvipero & @samlane to check bridging.
- Wayland.
- Welcome.
