Hello,

As the title says I just upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 and i found out that I only have the “Budgie desktop settings” application but the gnome one (i forgot the name) is missing.
Is there any solution to install all the default software if they not exist for the current version?
I ask that because sadly at the moment this is the only thing that i noticed.
For example searching using the application menu for “Windows Shuffler” for the new grid system yields no results.

sounds like you are missing the meta package which you may have inadvertently removed before the upgrade

Try:

```
sudo apt install --reinstall ubuntu-budgie-desktop budgie-desktop-environment
```

Yes, the last snippet in my previous post is the result.
But after running `sudo apt install --reinstall ubuntu-budgie-desktop budgie-deskt op-environment budgie-desktop budgie-core gnome-control-center hplip simple-scan gnome-color-manager ` it lead to

I’m confused!

Have you got any pinned packages?

```auto
apt-mark showhold
```

or if that doesn’t work

```auto
dpkg -l | grep "^hi"
```

```auto
apt-mark showhold
Returns nothing
```auto
dpkg -l | grep "^hi"

```
Returns
```auto
acriha@acriha ~> dpkg -l | grep "^hi"
acriha@acriha ~ [0|1]>

```
Note that i’m running fish shell.
Running the last command in bash leads to
```auto
bash: /etc/profile.d/vte.sh: No such file or directory
acriha@acriha:~$ dpkg -l | grep "^hi"
acriha@acriha:~$

```
I’ve included the error message when i enter bash because it doesn’t appear in fish
Please can you try the answer/answers here - there is definitely something very wrong with your apt database
</div>
I tried what is specified in the given thread but no luck.
I disabled all ppas and left only the official ones.
Then i went down the chain for the 3 packages that have unmet dependencies `libhpmud0`, `libsane-hpaio`, `printer-driver-hpcups` and i had to run these commands
```auto
//loading dependencies for
sudo apt-get install printer-driver-hpcups
//ran dependency installs
sudo apt-get install libhpmud0

//loading dependencies for
sudo apt-get install libsane-hpaio
//ran dependency installs
sudo apt-get install sane-utils
sudo apt-get install libsane
sudo apt-get install libsnmp35 //see libhpmud0

//loading dependencies for
sudo apt-get install libhpmud0
//ran dependency installs
sudo apt-get install libsnmp35
sudo apt-get install libsensors5
sudo apt-get install libsensors-config
sudo apt-get install java8-runtime

```
But the problem starts at installing the `java8-runtime` where it resulted in
```auto
sudo apt-get install java8-runtime
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package java8-runtime is a virtual package provided by:
  openjdk-8-jre 8u265-b01-0ubuntu2~20.04
  openjdk-14-jre 14.0.1+7-1ubuntu1
  openjdk-13-jre 13.0.3+3-1ubuntu2
  openjdk-11-jre 11.0.8+10-0ubuntu1~20.04
  default-jre 2:1.11-72
You should explicitly select one to install.

```
Running `sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jre` leads me to
```auto
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
openjdk-8-jre is already the newest version (8u265-b01-0ubuntu2~20.04).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded.

```
Edit:
Forgot to specify that i also tried to install the `java8-runtime`, `libhpmud0`, and the first command given
`ubuntu-budgie-desktop budgie-desktop-environment budgie-desktop budgie-core gnome-control-center hplip simple-scan gnome-color-manager` using aptitude found in this answer [https://stackoverflow.com/a/35679746](https://stackoverflow.com/a/35679746) with no luck.
Edit2:
Note that i’m a java developer, so on this machine i’m running
```java
openjdk version "11.0.8" 2020-07-14
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 11.0.8+10-post-Ubuntu-0ubuntu120.04)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0.8+10-post-Ubuntu-0ubuntu120.04, mixed mode, sharing)

```
Which it doesn’t have the JRE/JDK split.
