I have a Western Digital 8Tb external HDD which I need to reformat. WD does not, however, support Linux distros. What are my alternatives or is there a way I can do the reformat using WD’s software and run it under my Ubuntu install? Virtually a complete noob, so the simpler the solution the better.
If you unplug your drive, run Menu - Disks and then plugin your drive you should see the hard drive appear. Does it recognise it as a 8Tb hard drive? You can format the drive from that screen.
Thanks, David. The process is going on now, though it will take like 3 days to complete. You forget how big 8Tb is until you have to do something like this. So far, so good.
Thanks again for your advice. Linux people are so helpful.
