# XServer machine broke

I just restarted my PC, and now it keeps me at the dots screen/tty in some cases

press esc - that should flip to the text boot - where is it stopping at?

see if it’s a kernel issue - press shift when booting to display GRUB and boot with an older kernel

edit your grub boot and remove “quiet splash” - this should boot but in text mode. What does it stop on?

This. Is very difficult to diagnose without more info about your machine. E.g. are you using any proprietary graphics drivers? What kernel are you using?
