Do you want to install it? [Y/n]:
… should I install it ?
Just if you want to install Tor and if and only if you’ll trust me.
Remember, I checked on my computer before I told you how to do.
I see . Thank for the warning.
Even so I trust you I would like to do that very carefully and securely.
In this case if there is any danger here I will not do that this way .
I need to learn how to do that as much securely as possible.
I will come back to the beginning of our conversation and try from there.
Thank you .
Will you trust Flathub more?
Ok . Thank you . Yes , when I can see it directly on the web page then I am more sure all is secure .
I am getting this now :
flatpak install flathub org.torproject.torbrowser-launcher

Do you want to install it? [Y/n]:
I guess I should type Y ?
but for what is this second Run commend and when to type it ?
… I typed Y and I think all is installed now . Terminal do not ask about anything anymore. There is a line to type so I guess the run command should be typed here ?
Cool !
Close the terminal and forget this line, you’ll find Tor launcher in the “Internet” section of the main menu.
Great , success !
My first manual download with your guidance has been just completed. ![]()
Thank you for your patience and willingness to help.
I’m happy for you.
I hope Tor meets your expectations.
And now you can try lots of other things!
Believe me it is a great achievement for me as this is a first step to learn how Linux works.
So thank you again for letting me do this step.
In the mean time when the Tor wasn’t work properly I found another secure web browser which is Vivaldi : https://vivaldi.com
My goal was to find a browser which take care about privacy and security and this one has excellent parameters : https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ . Even better for now then Tor - but maybe with some addjustments in settings Tor should be the same.
… but I want to use Tor also so it is very good finally to have it .
I believe you, @MEDICU, I believe you: I used to help out on the French forum of another Linux distribution. I’m not very technical, but what interests me is this kind of human relationship.
Thanks for your link, I’ve tested my browser (Brave). Apparently, it’s not too bad.
I like Brave very much for normal every day use. It is mine main browser.
However since I’ve watched Rob Braxman video about browser isolation and how important that is for privacy protection I start to learn how to use different browser for different purposes :
Yes , human relationship getting more and more needed when everybody is forced to not have time as we are busy to take care about our life… and we are forced to interact with AI .
All deliberatelly .
Thank you for this simple and very enlightening video, @MEDICU.
I’d been stuck with a general Orwellian notion of “Big Brother is watching you”. Now we should be thinking “Big browser is watching you”, especially now that Musk is using his social network for political purposes.
I tested several browsers with Rob Braxman’s tool. You can see the difference. Well, of course he’s also trying to sell his VPN, but I’ve realised that the danger lies in trust and overconfidence.
Do you know Mullvad Browser?
I came to the conclusion I need to install the Tor Browser back again not only for installing specific apps but also for secure web browsing whenever I need it .
In your opinion which way of installation I should choose if I have experienced before some errors issues with it ?
flatpak install flathub org.torproject.torbrowser-launcher

Skipping: org.torproject.torbrowser-launcher/x86_64/stable is already installed
It looks like not all is clear from the system .
I can see a Tor folder in Downloads.
But the answer is given:
Skipping: org.torproject.torbrowser-launcher/x86_64/stable is already installed
Of course Tor won’t install, you’ve already installed it!
Check with:
flatpak list
[...]
Tor Browser Launcher org.torproject.torbrowser-launcher 0.3.7 stable flathub system
I thought we deleted everything what is connected to Tor recently ?
Since then I have not installed anything else .
