Hello Folks
Sofware Updater GUI fails to update. It returns the message: “Failed to download repository information”.
It also states: “Check your Internet connection”.
There is nothing wrong with my internet connection otherwise I would not be able to post this.
I updated the Kernel on my system to 5.15.0-177-generic yesterday. I am guessing the problem relates to this kernel as I have not experienced this problem before now.
I have been using UB for several years now without major issue.
Can someone please tell me what is going on?
Canonical has been hit by a massive DDOS attack over the last couple of days. It has taken lots of effort by the engineers to restore services.
So yes, depending when you last did an update this is the sort of error that would be expected.

From the above, services such as PPAs should be shortly available. Try again in a few hours time. Check the status page for any new issues that may be raised.

In my experience updating PPAs is the thing that still does not work.
patience is needed - I know those Canonical engineers - they are working over the weekend to repair the damage done by the ongoing DDOS attack.

Not for me. Ubuntu Pro is back on-line. Still getting the same response from the Updater..
At the moment it is up and down like a proverbial yo-yo.
It worked for me this morning - and is currently very very slow.
Understood. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

It’s strange: as far as I can tell, everything has been working fine for the past two days.
Try using the terminal:
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

The actual jammy repos went EOL a couple of weeks ago.

Yes and covered until 2032 according to the subscription. I thought Jammy was end of life last year..
