Well, I’m really surprised. Upgrade my Ubuntu Budgie local server (qnap) from 2022 to 2024 shows up an amount of usage of disc on root (/) - 36 GB. Almost Windows, right? Or the same? Or even more?
And this is before Jellyfin and Kodi, because on prevoius version of server was only this on, nothing more.
I think it’s time to go for Debian.

Check your updates, residual configs and kernels : you might have leftovers from previous installation.
apt list ~c
sudo apt purge ~c
If not enough, use semi-graphical utility ncdu to pinpoint which folders are the heaviest. Logs might take some room.
