Sounds like you haven’t installed the windows guest additions into your VM
Better than VMs for most cases where you need a specific Windows software — though not for gaming — I just discovered WinPodX, and based on my initial exploration, it’s extremely interesting and works pretty well, even though it’s still in beta.
The most surprising thing is that this system challenges the common belief that Windows cannot read — let alone write to — Linux ext4 partitions.
And here’s the proof:
Windows 11 is running on a Linux distribution, and Notepad directly edits a file located on a different system and a different partition than the host system.
What’s more, you have full access to USB devices, and Windows apps install directly into Windows, just as you would install them on Windows.
This WinPod innovation is quite impressive, but the user experience is somewhat sluggish, and certain applications occasionally crash unexpectedly. Currently, a virtual machine proves more practical—specifically,
it doesn’t support screen splitting via shortcuts or text copying from the host machine to the virtual Windows 11 environment,
which are two major shortcomings.

On the left side of my laptop screen is Zorin 18.1; on the right is Windows 11 Pro in WinPodX (auto-tiling + “Super right”).

My system runs Ubuntu Budgie 26.04 with Wayland, using an Oracle VirtualBox 7.2.12 virtual machine; the operating systems might differ.
I tried using WinPod version 0.7, but my apps would crash when opened. I’m not sure if text copying and pasting worked properly. After a month, I can’t recall exactly how it performed.

I’m experiencing issues copying terminal text from the host machine to Windows 11 on VirtualBox 7.2.12—sometimes it works, sometimes not; sometimes I can copy entire sections but not individual lines.

The text copied from the host machine specifically for OnlyOffice can be pasted onto Windows 11 on VirtualBox 7.2.12 running Microsoft Office 2024 under various conditions.

This bug may be specific to LabWC or Budgie 26.04; Budgie 24.04 X11 does not exhibit this issue.

The official LabWC version is 0.20.1; Budgie 26.04 is too outdated. We recommend upgrading.
@Tianyazi, I finally tried installing WinPodX on Ubuntu Budgie 26.04.
Just one small issue compared to my previous experience: while the installation script does install podman, you have to install podman-compose manually and restart the installation.
But since the script is in beta, it’s frequently updated, which probably explains this.
I took the opportunity to clean up the failed installation attempt and chose “Custom” mode so as not to install the graphical interface, which I don’t need.
After a few quick tests, everything seems to be working.
I’ll look into it further later.
Labwc like most wlroots based compositors doesnt have integrated clipboard management. Have you got the budgie-clipboard-manager-applet installed and on your panel? (Reboot after installing)
In Budgie 26.04, the plugin “budgie-clipboard-manager-applet” does not exist.
