I am actually trying out your suggesion for OnlyOffice right now. So far the the RAM usage has been stable, but I miss the Libreoffice workflow. Will be using OnlyOffice for at least another month just to see if I get strange spikes in RAM usage. My only gripe with OO now is that I can’t find documentation that allow me to create templates similar to those I did on LO.
Thanks for the PPA - After my OO experiment I’ll use this, so I can get a comparison.
As for Swapiness. You are the second person suggesting it to me. I’ll read up on it and thank you for the link.
So, avoid installing programs in snap package for the moment. They might be slow on only-HDD setups.
These helps are more aimed at online version of OnlyOffice but should give some hints for the general usage.
Hence entries regarding « collaborative work » won’t apply.
What happens when you open templates made with LO in OO ?
Maybe from LO convert those templates into a regular file ?
I’m not an OO user myself so it was just a « workaround » suggestion.
If the RAM problem can’t ever be solved, you’d probably need to try a « lighter » Ubuntu flavor, like Mate Ubuntu or Xubuntu.
