18.04 : Thunderbird makes Pixel saver applet crashes?

Hi,

almost each time I launch Thunderbird - be it in full or non-maximized window - it makes pixel saver applet crash for a moment. I just have to maximize or un-maximize window for pixel saver applet to come back.

It’s 18.04 here, and TB 68 but it used to do the same with previous TB.

ewww… lots of thunderbird output. Don’t think those are causing the issues - but as usual with mozilla stuff they do some really weird stuff (thinking CSD implementation).

Guess that weirdness needs to be somehow trapped in pixel saver…

Help is most definitely welcome … otherwise its just another to add to the very long list :frowning:

Found some time to look - unfortunately I cannot reproduce this issue.

Using 18.04 - pixel saver + global menu. Starting thunderbird doesnt make pixel saver disappear.

Does not happen each time.

Seems to happen much more often if ThunderBird was / is in maximized screen ( regular full-screen, not F11 )

I’ll do the addons hunt by my side…

Hmmm… I did try with thunderbird starting in its maximised state a few times but no joy with your observations:(

Damn… it seems problem begins to appear when I enable Lightning addon ( agenda / calendar ).

May make sense as Lightning adds some buttons in the toolbar - not in the title bar though - but who knows ?

…finally it still happens even without Llightning.

Also to note, my Thunderbird profile is shared between 2 systems ( Unity 16.04 + UBudgie 18.04 ) and I think both TB are not at the same versions…

Well… since I no longer use global-menu applet, it seems Thunderbird ( like Firefox ) is happier now.

So pixel-saver is… safe.
