doesnt really mean much to me unfortunately. I’ve tried booting with apparmor=0 for the kernel. This had the same issue - so it isnt an apparmor issue. Also installed using btfrs rather than ext4 but had the same issue. So it isnt a linux ext4 file-system issue.

Spun up a Ubuntu Eoan image in Virtualbox and the same problem existed. Installed appmenu-gtk2-module via apt. Now both gftp and filezilla launch right away. Did the same with UB Eoan and the problem still exists.

Today’s apt update seems to have fixed this problem.

I have been taking this install.reinstall.re-reinstall cycle this last 30 days to try out other OS then compare/reinstall Ubuntu Budgie. I installed the oct 09 build, updated everything (no new programs other than Chrome added form the browser ballot) and I get a white screen with a sad computer face, telling me something has gone wrong and to log back in. ok - think I understand the issue now - its due to you have both gnome-shell and budgie-desktop installed. I’ve thrown a bug-fix and hopefully it will be accepted soon. Will keep you informed.

Sorry, I was using Gnome Shell AND Budgie? I was unaware I was mixing the two – I’d just as soon keep my Budgie desktop stable. I was under the impression Budgie was a buttery smooth veneer of awesomeness over a partial Gnome base. I will do my best to keep them a bit more separated in the future. I…

Bug fix has now been released - it will take a while for the mirrors to pick up - but just update as normal and you should see the update come down the wires. Themes will not affect updates so no need to worry.

I installed gir1.2-rsvg-2.0 and this appears to make vlc startup fast. Guess this is a packaging issue - suggest ubuntu-bug vlc to add this as a recommended package
