after playing around with some other distros I reinstalled Ubuntu Budgie 21.10. While setting up the software I need, I found out, that Firefox could not connect to Keepassxc browser integration. I did a quick research and found reports about similar problems with Chromium. This occurs when the browser is installed as snap. The setup routine of Ubuntu Budgie installed FF as snap. So I uninstalled FF and reinstalled it from ubuntu-impish-main repository. Problem solved.
The issue regarding Chromium is discussed on github (Does not work in Chromium (Snap). · Issue #405 · keepassxreboot/keepassxc-browser · GitHub). There’s also a workaround for chromium snaps.
