Installation of HP smart on ubuntu Budgie throws up dependencies error

Hello Guys,

i am stuck again, this time while Installing HP smart on my ubuntu budgie desktop. I downloaded the package from the HP support website and while trying to install via CLI it throws up dependency errors as the dependencies fail to install.

I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you in advance.

Regards
Ash

answer kind of depends what the errors are - so you’ll need to show them here together with how you are trying to install the package

Question is - why are you installing stuff like this from an external site such as HP. Very unusual since they should be available and updated from the normal repository packages.

Hello FrossFreedom,

Thank you for your reply.

I used sh followed by the package name ( as shown in the installation instruction guide). I need this application to scan my documents, if there is any other alternative please let me know.

Below are the installation steps followed ( I tried running as a root user but the error was the same)

V3.20 of hplip is already available and should be already installed on Ubuntu Budgie 20.04

If you have removed it …

sudo apt install hplip

I have not removed it. I am able to print without issues however I need to scan as well but I do not see any application with which I can do so. Is there way i can scan the documents (my printer also has a scanner)

thank you for your patience and the help you have been providing

Just type scan in the menu - the scanner software is preloaded and is called SimpleScan

Found it, thank you very much.

Appologies for acting so dum

no worries - glad everything work out for you.
