Have moved from a frankenstein’s bride Ubuntu spliced with Kubuntu, briefly traveling through Elementary, which I used to download Budgie…Very much enjoying this distro so far.
Surprisingly quick. I installed the minimal, yet had all I needed 10-15 mins after install.
A couple of questions -
Is there a way to enable two finger pinch to zoom? It worked out the box on the last Ubuntu I used, but not on this distro.
Closing the screen goes straight to suspend. Can I make it simply turn off the display instead with suspend coming after a certain X mins of no use? I think if I leave the laptop plugged in and on, it also will automatically still go to suspend, even when set to stay on in the settings??
Is there a website which shows other themes I can consider as in how they will look exactly on my system?
Not sure I need anything else. All seems smooth, quick and aesthetically pleasing.
The pinch gesture works natively on UB in PDF readers and image viewers.
But, being old school, I only occasionally use the touchpad on my laptop, and I find that these are the only truly useful applications for the rare occasions when I do use it.
There are settings in “dconf” to configure several types of actions when closing the lid, depending on whether the laptop is plugged in or not, but I don’t think they work — feel free to try them and let us know:
I had the latest stable LTS release installed a few weeks back, thought I would try Kubuntu, and installed the desktop over ubuntu, then wouldnt boot, needed help to get the log in scree to return, then uninstalled kubuntu desktop with help from another linux user, but kubuntu remains with dolphin, and elsewhere, an uneasy mix. So tried Elementary, wasn’t keen, then to budgie and like it!
Maybe you are right…I am close to sure though that I could pinch to zoom in and pull fingers apart on touchpad to zoom out on text in web pages on Ubuntu. Maybe not!
