Super+E shortcut key is invalid(Budgie 26.04)

Super+E shortcut key is invalid(Budgie 26.04),

The super+E shortcut is valid in bugie24.04 (X11).

give us a hint … what is “Super+E” supposed to-do?

Ok - if this is a default from GNOME, then good spot. We should bridge that.

For the moment you can open your local ~/.config/budgie-desktop/labwc/rc.xml and add

<keybind key="S-e">
	<action name="Execute" command="xdg-open ." />
</keybind>

It is recommended to enable shortcuts by default.

I’ve never used that key combination.

Actually, this applies to Nemo in both 24.04 and 26.04: pressing “Super” + any letter, including
“e,” searches for folders or files in current directory whose names begin with that letter or group of letters.

I added the code to ~/.config/budgie-desktop/labwc/rc.xml but I don’t see what else it’s supposed to do (after restarting, I should note).

I might be wrong, but the problem is simply that Nemo doesn’t (yet) support the desktop in graphical mode—that’s all. :thinking:

Probably the searching capabilities were from nemo-desktop which we are not shipping in 26.04 since its not wayland compatible. Lets see for 26.10

labwc -r would reload the rc.xml change - so the keyboard combination should open the default file-manager.

What I meant to say is that there’s no need to modify ~/.config/budgie-desktop/labwc/rc.xml; Nemo’s search capabilities work without it—as long as it’s running, of course. :confused:

PS: That said—it took me a while to figure it out—“Ctrl+E” is a custom keyboard shortcut, not a standard one.

It is recommended that the Budgie team add a shortcut (Super + e) to open File Manager in Budgie 26.04 for better user experience.

I agree with you, @Tianyazi,but everyone (starting with me) would have tons of keyboard shortcuts to suggest.

Maybe the forum administrators should create a section where we could post our suggestions… or open a contest for the most useful keyboard shortcuts. :grinning_face:

Post on the current development testing thread.

This suggestion unless its a significant bug doesnt fit in the SRU definition for a released version such as 26.04, but we can consider for the development cycle.
