I see a little strange behavior with LightDM on my Laptop with external Displays:
If I use my external Displays while the Laptop lid is closed, the Username / Password prompt does not appear on the screens. If I open the lid during login, the Username / Password prompt is present on the Laptop screen. Is this behavior normal?
I have seen this behavior as well often after a restart and its not normal. I think if i put the mouse cursor at the top of the screen, Budgie top panel, the login then shows. What display driver are you using?
interesting observation. This means gnome-screensaver is confused as to what is the active screen.
Well, after the initial Boot the Login Screen is handled by LightDM, right? Gnome-Screensaver is only involved, when I lock the desktop and try to login to the session again?
Some interesting point at last boot, I moved the mouse cursor around until the cursor appeared on my external screen. When the mouse cursor appeared on the external screen, the Username and Password fields appeared, too!! But the Username / Password Field appeared with the Scaling setting of the Laptop Display. Laptop Display ( 3840x 2400 , Scaling at 200% ), The primary external Display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 ( no scaling).
