Hello, I tried to use the budgie-welcome app to install nemo-preview, but it fails to install. I dropped to a terminal and ran sudo apt install nemo-preview and it looks like it is due to an old dependency no longer offered in 24.04. Here’s what the apt output says:
The following packages have unmet dependencies: nemo-preview : Depends: gir1.2-webkit2-4.0 but it is not installable
It looks like 24.04 has gir1.2-webkit2-4.1, but gir1.2-webkit2-4.0 is not available as an installable package. Is this something that must be updated on the nemo-preview package, or upstream? I’m not sure the proper path for resolution, so I just thought I would mention it here.
I am loving the Ubuntu Budgie experience, by the way. It looks great!
The key part is that nemo-preview now installs correctly for both noble and oracular.
From a quick test it previews correctly when pressing space all file types - with the exception of PDFs. I’ve attempted to patched nemo-previews to work with our default PDF viewer called Atril - this needs more finessing to work.
I’m good to use nemo instead of nautilus. I tried to install the nemo-preview package today and it worked great. I confirmed that it is not working right with the PDF preview, as you said, but it seems to work fine for pictures at least. It’s not an essential feature for me personally, so I’ll be patient for the finessing of the PDF preview, whenever the time is right. Just glad the package dependencies are fixed for now. Great work, thanks!
