I have install budgie close to another OS. I’m now in dual-boot. Everything is OK. I decide to change who OS start in first, my choice I use a tool for change between budgie and hybrid . When I start I choice in "option ===> grub place===> I have sda6 for hybrid & sda7 for budgie…iI decide sda6 hybryd to be first one. My manipulation are OK sda6 hybryd start first.
After that I close my hardisk & I verified if budgie is OK after ! ! I start my harddisk . That is the big trouble, when I open budgie , it’s impossible for open budgie because it’s necessary to typing my password not recognise 2 times. And after I’m obliged to close my harddisk ??? please give me the reason why this splendid failure ?? Budgie is blocked ?? But when I restart, no trouble when I start hybryd. many thanks

Reading choice in "option ===> grub place===> I have sda6 for hybrid & sda7 for budgie…iI decide sda6 it sounds like you have installed grub on partition sda6.
Shouldn’t Grub be installed on device sda and not on a partition sdax of that device ???
On the other hand, any modification of grub settings must be followed by sudo update-grub
If your both systems were installed regularly then at start of your computer Grub should be displayed, giving you the choice of which OS to boot.
→ is this what happens, or not ?
After that I close my hardisk
→ what does it mean ? Why do you do that for ? Is this an external disk ?

I repeat the budgie install regular & correct all is Okey ! Close to hybryd no problem fro him
1er , this tool are " boot-repair-disk"
When in this tool are open, you have any options " repair comand" and “options avancées” I use always this !
For the grub it’s Okey on sda6 !
exact, I have the choice between sda6 or sda 7
one by one they function for this tool

For your understanding, after the installe budgie finish it’s automatic budgie are first… I decide always like this when I installe any new O.S.
The result are negatif, because my password block budgie when I would like open it ! here is the reason why I’m obliged to close my PC . the harddisk are the second on this PC internal…I have tree hardisk inside … I hope you understood what I said ? Because for me a noise with budgie are really a big surprise ? Everything are Okey but this bug are not normal ! !
Finaly my question where come from the problem? Why blocking password not recognise for open budgie? mystery…

But how was I supposed to guess that you used them, and how you used them, and why ???
Please confirm :
1⋅ at boot, can you see grub ?
2⋅ Does grub give you the choice of which OS to boot ?
3⋅ once you choose Budgie, system boots and shows its login screen but that’s where your password is refused ?

If your install was clean, you would not have needed boot-repair. Simple as that. Boot-repair is only needed when Grub is broken. When installing many linux OS side by side for multi-boot, Grub updates the list of installed OS. So no need for boot-repair to force that.
Boot-repair and its automatic repair suggestion are a fast way to break everything.
Would you mind create a boot-info report and post its link here ?
When installing Budgie, do you remember « where » you installed Grub ?
Grub should be installed on a DEVICE, not on a partition.
If all your OS’s are on sda, try :
sudo grub-install /dev/sda
followed by
sudo update-grub
Any modification regarding grub must be followed by issuing the command sudo update-grub.
If you can’t provide a boot-info report, please copy-paste here outputs of
sudo fdisk -l
lsblk
df -Th

Here is the result after use “boot-repair” the first line is for " hybryd custom “monster” the second line are for budgie 20.04
But after the correct install of budgie its contrary situation ! Budgie are on first line & hybryd are in second line…
I have said , I prefer hydryd first when I open my harddisk that all

"sudo update-grub"
Now for to be honest , I don’t understand why after my own manip’s with boot-repair? Here is the result super catastrophic for refuse opening with my personal password ? After the closed & reboot harddisk budgie are OK but without my picture like this and not password or budgie it’s always my decider, not passwd connection automatic…
And then, check for open budgie session return normal opening …passwd refuse …

1°)First point, yes I known for Hybryd are in base "kubuntu not ubuntu with 9 environment & the master desktop ?If this OS is obsolete yes! But it’s impossible to used it ?? Incredible but true
2°)Now in hybryd the partition was created by myself not during the install. in ext 4 for **ext3 **are for the past. Never install with ext3 !

False more false never! I have an answer like this ! My partition I do it myself ans after I use this in installed not with the "special instructor budgie"

I don’t have /home looking for understood that yourself they partition are too much +/- 100 go & for the budgie installer iso are +/- 10 Go that all…When I download, music, picture or anything these transfers directly in own the folders etc …
I’m not staying in the past proceed version for installed a OS with this: 15Go for / 30 Go for /home +/- 9 Go for swap here is the proceed install for the new one user … that’s all

Finally, my answer is I need update & upgrade? After the end install OK ? I open my terminal “guake” I typing like this :

are you sharing the same home folder between the two operating systems?
No absolutely not ! Everyone OS have his own folder, that all…You have one specific for budgie ! Me? I have thunar for hybryd…nautilus or thunar or an other folder principal …

So if you created yourself an EXT3/4 partition from hybrid/14.04, chances are it’s not fully compatible with EXT3/4 as handled by newer Linux Kernels.
I don’t ask for your opinion, or what you believe is right or wrong about this or that.
I need reliable info to try to understand what happens to your system.
So please, post output of :
ls -la /home/jibel
to see owner and permissions of hidden files there.
If some files there don’t belong to jibel - you may be unable to login.
Last point today, never I don’t have received right answer concerning the budgie anomaly for the refusing connected (password) return to the session !!
Because it’s most probably not a Budgie bug but the consequence of how you installed things, beside unsupported old OS, not using the default-newer installer, and using boot-repair before really understand where is the problem.
Suggestion for next time you prepare a partition for installing a new OS :
do this only with most current, recent, supported tools.
Be they gparted, gnome-disks, calamares or ubiquity, choose your favorite. But a recent, still maintained and supported one.
Not one which has not been upgraded for years and thus may lack latest filesystems refinements.
For to be honest my question is your answer are completely false !
What you see?? first for hybryd & second for budgie! With which number ? sda6 hybryd sda7 budgie…for the moment sda7 are always here not directly to the trash !

The bug are come from the budgie installer ? if you remember well, I have inside a screenshot where you see perfectly budgie are installed in the partition 1,50Tera IN the rest of my harddisk this is exactly what you see with my last screenshot today more /less. But if you understood in opposite side ?? In this case, it’s over for me dear Frenchman…I push budgie directly in trash… Because what? Now and last post , when anyone would like install budgie, in the page everyone are tree possibility :
1er take the first place replaces hybryd and install budgie same place
second choice near to hybryd install budgie near his part
last choice " very important" doing other thing… here is the right suggest …I doing that since 15 years… Never I take the place of hybryd, never I install close to hybryd and finally in the last suggest everyone see the sda7 on ext4 for budgie installed in 25 mn …
Now If personally you install this very different thing ??My god ! we are in opposite side …

I am closing this topic. I am not happy with your attitude and how you reply. A good member of the community is trying to help but what I see from you is verging on abuse. That is not acceptable.
Its very clear from the thread so far that by performing the actions you have done you have messed up your installation. This isn’t anything todo with Ubuntu Budgie.
