YouTube breaks uBlock Origin and Firefox

FREEZE and CRASH…. and I thought it was my graphic card or even Ubuntu itself.

Firefox uninstalled and reinstalled… now with Ads.

I’m sure uBlock will figure something out.. just give it time.

Try Brave Browse, you won’t need ad blockers anymore.

I would use BRAVE and have already tried it once (also Chromium). I’m a creature of habit I guess, you know, the workflow. Plus I like the way you can customize Firefox. Anyway, its working again. I reinstalled Firefox… and then uninstalled and reinstalled uBlock Origin. Ads on YouTube are now blocked again. Funny thing… my new installation of Firefox came with an older version of my Bookmarks from 3 years ago??? Newer Bookmarks are missing. :man_shrugging:

PS: The reason I thought it might be my graphic card = because my sound-on-board just quit about 2 weeks ago. Now using USB Audio Adapter.

Like everyone else, more or less, right?
I’ve never used FF because it took forever to launch on my 2004 Pentium IV computosaurus…

It’s (the beginning) of the end, my friend, when components start going haywire one after the other.

PS: This is not the case on my main distribution, but are you one of those users who received a 6.14 kernel with version 24.04.3?
This might explain your recent problems.

Amazingly, Microsoft Edge works great and has some nice features such as the ability to easily make a web app out of any tab. Have not had any hassles like the above.

My kernel is 6.08.0-71-generic… since I reinstalled FF & UBlock Origin, there’s been no more breaking of anything. So maybe my PC will last another year if I’m lucky. I’ve been using Firefox ever since Netscape died. Yeah… I’m that old.

I’m glad it works for you… and I hope you’re having a good experience with LINUX. Sorry, I just can’t use Edge.. I have problems with anything related to either Microsoft or Google. Even my cell-phone is de-Googled. Guess I’m a privacy nut-job. Yeah… I know FF main supporter is Google.

I know it doesn’t help, but just for variety and perspective, I haven’t had any freezes with Firefox + UBlock Origin. Running Budgie 24.04.3 LTS.

I guess its just a mystery… Do you watch YouTube videos with it. YouTube is becoming very aggressive against Ad Blockers. (Look it up on Reddit)

Yup, I’m using youtube and uorigin block. Mystery indeed

Really? Not on my computer: when used with LibreWolf, uBlock Origin does not block YouTube:

Budgie is pretty … don’t be a hero and use pretty things like Brave… Firefox is like for Mint or Debian with lxqt . Budgie doesn’t need it (and I love Firefox  but its development is very lacking ).
