Budgie Extras is 'empty' after upgrade to 21.10

Just empty:

Reinstalling ends up with this message:

After rebooting, it remains ‘empty’ :disappointed_relieved:

Any messages displayed in a terminal if you run the following in a terminal?

Does this behave better?

snap refresh --edge ubuntu-budgie-welcome

You can go back to stable via

snap refresh --stable ubuntu-budgie-welcome

No, sorry, both ideas do not change it.

Does this help?

snap remove --purge ubuntu-budgie-welcome
snap install ubuntu-budgie-welcome

Hmmm…

[laptop@laptop ~]$ snap install ubuntu-budgie-welcome

yep

snap install ubuntu-budgie-welcome --classic

Did not work either. Strange!

Do you mean it didn’t install - or you are still seeing a blank page when the app starts?

Still the blank page.

hmm - not sure.

I switched to de_DE and ran budgie-welcome - it displays in german and budgie-extras shows ok.

I’ve got a problem with Snaps in general, I suppose. I’ve installed EOG for testing as a Snap:

[laptop@laptop ~]$ eog
/snap/eog/602/usr/bin/eog: error while loading shared libraries: libportal.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[laptop@laptop ~]$

Yeah - I see that as well - that bug needs to be reported to Canonical via launchpad

Ok - I’ve added a debug message at the point of the crash - hopefully that will show me what is going on.

please run

snap refresh --edge ubuntu-budgie-welcome
budgie-welcome --debug

Copy paste the output - thanks.

ok,

what I am seeing shouldnt ever happen. Why it is I have no idea. Are you using the default python that comes with 21.10?

Anyway - I’ve added a bit of code that will stop the crash - no idea though if it resolves your main issue.

Please run

snap refresh
budgie-welcome --debug

Let me know what you see.

Good morning!

Yes.
