Budgie problemi su tutte le distro linux

Carissimi amici budgie desktop l’ ho provato con Ubuntu 25.10. Perfetto! Veramente ben fatto. Elegante e minimalista. Buon lavoro amici. Intanto uso Ubuntu budgie 25.10 che va benissimo.

Dearest friends, I have tested the Budgie desktop environment on Ubuntu 25.10; it is flawless. Truly exquisitely crafted, it exudes elegance and minimalism. However, upon transitioning to Wayland, functionality collapses entirely: from the wallpaper to the desktop icons and the application bar, nothing operates as intended. I have experimented with the latest iterations of Fedora, Ubuntu, Ultramarine, and CachyOS, yet encountered analogous defects across every distribution. It is imperative that numerous bugs be rectified, and I earnestly hope this is accomplished with haste. Pray, discard Crystal Dock, for it proves utterly superfluous. My compliments to you all. For the interim, I shall continue with Ubuntu Budgie 25.10, which performs admirably.

sadly there isn’t anything here to help you. what do you mean by it doesn’t “operates as intended”?

What are these “numerous bugs to be rectified”?

“discard crystal dock” → just choose another layout via budgie-welcome - makeovers.

Adopting the 7.0 kernel and Budgie 10.10 — which Solus still doesn’t offer and will likely never offer before version 11 — is certainly a bold move.

But it’s understandable that people who don’t know anything about it really wonder why it was so imperative to switch to Wayland, given that it changes their user habits.

However, having too tried a number of “Budgie” distributions (including Solus, which I’ve been following for some time) I can say that Ubuntu Budgie does the most justice to this desktop environment, if only because of the applets it offers.

Even UB 26.04, as is, for everyday use.

Last time (24.04), it was the Ubuntu part that was the problem. This time, it’s not Budgie — because Ubuntu is arguably worse than before for its regular users — it’s just Wayland.

When I hover over the dock with the mouse cursor, the dock disappears. I am unable to change the wallpaper in any way. The desktop icons are locked in place. It seems peculiar that this issue does not arise for you. I have tested this on both Fedora and Ubuntu.

Are you testing with an install or via a live-session?

Desktop icons - you simply drag and drop to move around within all the other icons. You cannot drag and drop anywhere on the desktop. We are hoping the new version of nemo (not yet released) will have better desktop icons support.

What dock are you referring to? Screenshot helps. Video demonstrating the issue would be welcome.

Io ho installato Ubuntu Budgie 26.04 e Fedora budgie 44.

I have installed Ubuntu Budgie 26.04 and Fedora Budgie 44, yet I am encountering persistent issues with the bottom dock. When attempting to drag application icons onto it, the dock vanishes. Furthermore, I am unable to alter the desktop wallpaper, as the right-click function remains unresponsive. Dragging folders to copy them onto the desktop is likewise impossible. The situation has become exceedingly convoluted.

Right-click on an open space of crystal dock - choose Edit launchers. Drag and drop onto the dialog.

Alternatively, run the application, right click the icon in the dock and pin the app.

You change desktop wallpapers via budgie-control-center - backgrounds. You can add a picture to choose another wallpaper that you have in your home folder.

If you want to create files or folders on the desktop - open the file-manager, choose the Desktop folder and create files or folders.
