Hello,

sure sure - basically we work to the various freeze dates as published
The key date is the beta freeze date - which in this cycle is March the 23rd. Working back from that to allow gathering, packaging, the date we would work to is a couple of weeks before that - so we would gather the latest translations around the 10th March and release to the archive a few days after. That allows the package to build, be tested and then pushed automatically to the release archive.
Many thanks for this quick answer!
I would like to take this opportunity to ask my question: I posted the French translation, but there are areas that do not seem to be intended for translation, so the total amount of text translated is not 100%.
Is this a problem?
not a problem - thanks for your efforts BTW. For any translations that doesn’t have a corresponding translated string, GTK will default to the original non-translated string. Makes sense (for example) when there is a product name involved like firefox to not be translated.
Hey, the translation in French is almost 100%, 80% at the moment.
If you have time you can help with the 82 remaining strings ![]()
Edit: what is the difference between fr_FR and fr here in Ubuntu Budgie?
fr_FR is the translations specifically for France. fr is the fallback translation for any of the other french speaking countries around the world. I would imagine it should be identical unless there are specific strings that only the people of France use.
What is missing, for example, is what I referred to earlier:
These are often start/end tags, you can click the icon to copy the original string and validate it safely.
Thanks, @Apileouface! I didn’t realise that you had to click on the corresponding check boxes and then the ‘Copy’ button to perform a batch action.
I’ll finish that today.
