Screwed up Cairo Dock

I accidentally messed up Cairo-Dock. There’s an extra panel on the bottom left. The original is still there but no longer works. I was trying to add a clipboard but have no idea how do do it. As nice as Budgie looks it’s hard to use.

Do you have a screenshot? UB out of the box uses Plank not Cairo Dock.

Configuring plank is achieved via Menu - Plank Preferences. You can add a clipboard widget via plank through the Plank Preferences window.

Thanks. I figured out how to get rid of the extra panel. Is Plank different from Cairo Dock? And what actual clipboard manager would I install or use. Quick Note so far has been useless for copying text. It says it copies text that is being typed, but it isn’t copying this. But more over I need a clipboard that retains what I highlight and copy.

OK, I didn’t know that. I’ve never used either before. What about a good clipboard. I don’t care if it is on the top panel or in Plank I just need one that works.

Personally I use copyq - just search from Menu - Software. Use budgie-desktop-settings Autostart to add the application so it starts on next logon. It appears in your panel

Thanks I found “Clippy” and it works. Still confusing how to add and remove features. I don’t know if you are a developer of this, but it seems to me “Plank” should be in some area of the System Menu either under Preferences or Tools or Desktop Preferences. I don’t see it as an Accessory. Same with “Menu Editor” which really belongs in System Tools

I rarely navigate down the menu - just typing the first two or three chars in the search box and hitting return is enough to run stuff.

Thanks for your help. I would have to look for a screen shot app. Just getting started with this. I was using Kubuntu, but 19.10 is crashing constantly. Budgie so far has been stable. If I can learn to use it, and configure it I think I will like it.

Use Menu - Budgie Applets and install the screenshot applet. Logout and login and add the new applet via budgie-desktop-settings - panel - add applets.

I messed up by installing Cairo-Dock. Now there are broken packages. Don’t know how to fix it. Not good with the terminal but know a little apt-get. Is there a “repair” command?

Oh, OK. I’ll do it later today I have to get ready to go to tennis.

Depends on the error.

Run

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

What warnings/errors do you have?

It’s in synaptic and says “broken packages” so it won’t purge cairo-dock.

sure - run the two apt commands in a terminal and report the results.

Yes, “sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade” helped, and then I ran "sudo apt autoremove cairo-dock" which I believe got rid of all the cairo dock components:
