The budgie-desktop dock styled with our Pocillo theme?

Hi there!

In the Ubuntu Budgie 24.10 release news, it says:

‘The X11 plank dock has been dropped. We now have the budgie-desktop dock styled with our Pocillo theme. The top-bar defaults to a dark bar theme.’

It mentions that the budgie-desktop dock is styled with the Pocillo theme, replacing Plank. What steps should I follow to display the budgie-desktop dock?

Hi @kazunari!

Simply create a new panel (Desktop settings > Create new panel) then configure it (‘Settings’ tab) by activating ‘Dock mode’:

Then add the ‘Icon Task List’ applet:

To pin the applications you want, launch them, right-click on their icon in the dock and then on the star.
Uncheck the star to remove them.

dear Jib

Thank you. I wasn’t aware of this applet. I was able to successfully pin the apps.

I tried it, but I have one question.

When I launch the Brave Browser that I added to the dock, a separate icon appears for the running application in addition to the one I pinned. This doesn’t happen with other apps. It’s not causing any real trouble, but it does bother me a bit.

Strange…

How did you install Brave: Snap, Flatpak? In my case, I used the method recommended on Brave website. You should give it a try.

To confirm, on this sreenshot, Brave is ‘starred’ and running, Thunderbird is not and running in minimised mode:

On the contrary, I tend to have this problem with Plank, but only with a few specific launchers, such as PhotoFiltre’s, a very old Windows application installed with PlayOnLinux — the little blue dot distinguishes the pinned launcher (top) from the running application (bottom):

plank

What bothers me most is that this little translation detail in the ‘Icon Task List’ applet has not been fixed.
I think I’ll have to report this to the Solus forum:

Thank you. As you pointed out, I had installed Brave using snap. After installing it from Brave’s website, it worked perfectly.

Thank you so much!

P.S.

Regarding the issue that Jib is facing, I don’t know the solution either.

I hope a solution will be found soon.

Thanks, @kazunari-san!
I’ve just posted an issue on Budgie Destop’s GitHub.

P.S. Thanks to @fossfreedom, the problem is solved.
We’ll just have to wait for the next version of ‘budgie-desktop’.
