Skippy-XD didn't install from Budgie Welcome

Hi all. Trying out 18.04 on my “testing” laptop. As others have noted, Budgie Welcome didn’t load during my first boot after install. I don’t know if this is intentional or not.

However, when clicking on install Skippy-XD from Budgie Welcome (thumbs up for including, BTW), I get a red failed to install message in the upper right.

Has that worked for others? Thanks!

Can you run the welcome from the terminal?

ubuntu-budgie-welcome.budgie-welcome

(we will be fixing the command in the snap - in the future it will just be ubuntu-budgie-welcome)

When you attempt the install, what type of errors or output is shown in the terminal?

Should have done that earlier. Here you go:

(budgie-welcome:12099): Gtk-WARNING **: 01:34:47.009: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:4748:30: ‘gtkopacity’ is not a valid color name

I just opened up a bug…

Dustin has been busy … it is now available in the backports PPA.

Note - I have removed skippy-xd from welcome since there are no maintainers for this software. It is “use if it works” software.

So for everyone you can install via command line:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntubudgie/backports
sudo apt install skippy-xd

Then define a custom shortcut key or hotcorner to the command skippy-xd-toggle

Surprised no one is maintaining it considering it’s widely used and actually quite good and fast.
