The Ubuntu Budgie team meets once a month to discuss recent updates and what’s coming next for Ubuntu Budgie. Meeting notes from Ubuntu Budgie team meeting of 15 March 2025, 16:30 UTC.

  • Release Updates
    • Most Ubuntu IRC channels moved to Matrix. Watching status to potentially shut down Budgie IRC channels.This would also reduce cost.
    • Beta freeze around the corner, testers welcome and add results to ISO tracker. Help other flavors and make noise on socials. Ubuntu Discourse post co-ordinate with other flavors.
    • Release notes to be published this upcoming week. Socials posts to follow.
    • Mini-Panic from GNOME upstream RC broke . Extra code related to “alt, ctrl, super” keys. And our window manager was on older code and did not understand the new requirements. This is being fixed.
  • Upstream Updates
    • 25.04 new release of upstream Budgie version 10.9.2.
      • Multi monitor being figured out.
      • Screenshots are now working.
      • 10.10 upcoming around April, we may offer a PPA for testing for 25.04. This PPA will contain all the necessary wayland components.
        • gtklock and swaylock are both available in this PPA.
        • Applets will have to be dropped if those are not compatible with wayland.
  • Wayfire is being tested on Budgie by @fossfreedom .
  • RPI Updates
    • @samlane would like to have a RPI release. There is an issue regarding file system expansion. However we can add some “known issues”.
  • Budgie Shop Updates
    • Wordmark items for tech items (like mousepad, laptop sleeve).
    • Testing purchases, shipping costs and messages.
    • Check shipment costs for multiple items and perhaps add a note to let people know they can absorb shipping costs with larger items.
    • Returns policy and other policies need to be checked.
  • Artwork : ping Udara and see if he is interested in making some refresh wallpapers or artwork for the next LTS 26.04.
