Ubuntu & LibreOffice Updates 101

It’s been years since I touched Linux and forgot the basic philosophy behind updates.

I’m running Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS. I gather the LT lasts about two years. When that ends I’d gather I’m encouraged to upgrade to the ‘new’ version. Do I do that from within Budgie – like any typical OS?

Also I notice my LibreOffice (that was included with Budgie) isn’t so current. Will it be stuck that way until the LTS ends or will it update soon?

Thanks for any and all clarity

Yes. Your update-manager will suggest there is a new Ubuntu release and ask for upgrading.

Stuck that way → in theory yes. But there are ways to bypass that limitation. Regarding LibreOffice the less dangerous method is adding one of this ppa to your software sources : https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice depending on your favorite « branch » of LibreOffice.
