Usability of Add Applet window

Because my budie panel config gets wiped out from time to time, I have to reconfigure the panel quite often. The window is quite a pain in the ass. Why doesn’t it allow multiple selection? After i add one, I have to open the dialog again, and now scroll down… argh. Also, why is it so small? (Is it because you couldn’t make it smaller ;)?)

When the dialog is open, the applets are dead. I learned this just now: I wanted to make a screenshot of the dialog to put in this message, but turns out the screenshot applet is inaccessible when the dialog is open.

It is also painful because some applet names are nothing like their content. Like, the System indicator shows volume and bluetooth… what?!

Also, some indicators show one icon on the list, and completely unrelated in the panel. An example is the countdow applet.

Countdown on the list:

Make a guess, which one is the countdown image answer: last one

It also doesn’t help that applet names are nowhere to be found except the list. So, with the countdown applet, i have to ‘word’ to designate it when even I think about it. It’s ‘that spot that sits next to the clock’.

This is no specific question, just a user’s remarks on his user experience with your interface.

In fact, the dialog box for adding an applet to the panel freezes the entire panel, making the icons for already installed applets and those for applications displayed in the “Icon Task List” applet inoperable.

However, you can work around this problem by pinning “Budgie Screenshot” to the Plank dock or by using… “Count Down”. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Set enough time to open “Budgie Desktop” and add an applet to the panel, then specify org.buddiesofbudgie.BudgieScreenshot in the “Run command” box to capture the entire screen:

Enter org.buddiesofbudgie.BudgieScreenshot -h in the terminal to see the available options.

Of course, you can achieve the same result by launching “Budgie Screenshot” with enough delay before editing the panel. It was just for fun.
