I just installed ubuntu-budgie yesterday and was surprised to see that it is still gnome based.
I read the blog post from Jan 2017 (https://budgie-desktop.org/2017/01/25/kicking-off-budgie-11/) and assumed that upstream already made the switch, although I didn’t find any more recent news on it…
Is there a way to test it? Even just the link to the repo/branch to compile it myself is fine.
Upstream have recently announced that they are reviewing that decision in light of emerging technologies.
So we await with interest the new proposal.
This is the repo of test work that was made - it has been untouched for a long time now which indicates no continuing work on the QT port.
