A cool plugin for creating and closing split-screen window effects – would be even better if it could be implemented in Budgie 26.04.

  • Mac Minimize Animation: Compiz-alike Magic Lamp Effect – A “Magic Lamp” effect that pushes the Dock back when a window is minimized, closely mimicking the Mac experience.
  • Window Open/Close Effects: Burn My Windows – offers a variety of window opening and closing effects, including paper shredding, dissolving, and more.

These window effects are possible with running budgie on wayfire which we have a test PPA for this

26.10 Testing - Are you brave enough? - the PPA is available for both 26.04 and 26.10 testing.

If you want to run budgie on a proper tiling window manager then this is also possible - I’ve got budgie running on sway with a similar startup config & files as wayfire.

Looks pretty good – added effects similar to closing or opening windows on Mac, making it even better!
