Testing 19.10 - only for the most adventurous

Hoi,

Can you please add nemo-share to the backports of Ubuntu-Budgie 19.10

its now available in backports together with nemo-dropbox

Thank you very much.

I see that you confirmed that you found solution to backward application focus , should we expect an update soon ? Nothing has changed on both of my installations .

The change is in the mutter package - which is maintained by the Canonical devs - not Ubuntu Budgie.

Slight wrinkle. The patch is scheduled to be added to v3.34.1 upstream GNOME Mutter which is mid October time. So Ubuntu will automatically pick this up towards the end of October … too late for the release.

So its a question of asking nicely the Canonical devs to backport the patch for its v3.34.0 mutter package due sometime next week.

I’ve raised the bug report on launchpad here which you and anyone else interested should subscribe to.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1842971

I hope it works out for this release. Thanks again for the effort.

Confirmation from Canonical that the fix will be in either late this week/early next week when v3.34.0 of mutter lands in the repos.

hello UB! I just reinstalled the current 19.10 daily (Sept 9th) after a summer of travel. Still looks good, but some funky/unexpected restarts. Rebooting back in seems to have sorted this, as well as removing the Global Menu

New backgrounds - nice

Hi the new mutter has just been released. It may take a little time for mirrors to update - but just update as usual to get v3.34.0 of mutter.

This will resolve the application focus issues encountered by plank and icon-tasklist applet.

I just noticed Gnome Screen-shot is capturing the entire screen when grab current window is selected . Can someone please confirm whether it’s just my computer or not. Thanks !

Do double check you have mutter 3.34.0 installed from updates. This should make finding the “Active Window” for screenshot the correct one.

I’ve tested and all works with todays updates

Updated, rebooted and the global menu and screen-shot are working as expected.

the Software Updater doesn’t seem to work - confirm? I’m going to reinstall the new UB daily sept 10th

oop! it does appear to be not updating, even after a re-install. It took a reboot for the broadcom driver to engage, different from previous installs. The wifi icon in the top bar appears different, the inverted triangle it normally appears, plus ? a comic book style word balloon imposed overtop of it? It has since reverted (upon a further reboot) to the regular inverted triangle.

The updater problem seems as if the “install now” button simply doesn’t connect/launch the updater. The other two buttons do indeed take you to the Settings dialogue window and “Remind me later” does indeed close the window, presumably with the intent of reminding me to install updates at a time later int e day/tomorrow? The updater window suggests there are 92.3 MB of updates to be installed.

kernel: 5.2.0-15-generic (says neofetch)

Run update-manager from the terminal. When you hit “install now” any messages reported in the terminal?

It stated it knew there was already a bug report issued. Oh boy.

just tried ubuntu as well, it has the same trouble. I’ll reinstall UB after lunch and see about the output from tilix

… Okay, reinstalled while connected with ethernet. Hopefully all the updates were applied during installation. Apparently I have a problem with mate-optimus

and then I ran tilix while pressing the install updates button:

Thanks - the mate optimus issue is known - I have fixed that upstream and now we just need to wait for upstream to accept and release it.

The updates button issue has just been fixed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1843076

run

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

this will install the fix

okay – trying it out. Tilix is counting down a series of orangey percentages and it looks like I had the linux firmware updated as well. The kernel is back up to 5.2.0-15

rebooted upon command, and … seems working again.

finger on the pulse of broken stuff!
