Let's choose new icon theme for Ubuntu Budgie

EDIT (2 June 2020) - please see this proposal (with screenshot) Let's choose new icon theme for Ubuntu Budgie

Hey everyone!

We are currently planning to to visual overhaul of how the icons look on Ubuntu Budgie 20.10 Our main plan is to get the icons aligned with the current visual look of Ubuntu Budgie, making it over all more fresh.

Together with @vinceliuice we have embarked on journey to select the perfect icon theme that could fit with Ubuntu Budgie’s look.

Here are few suggestions:

  1. Tela Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1279924/
  2. Qogiri Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1296407/
  3. Tela Circle Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1359276/

Which one of those would you like to see? We would like to hear your suggestions so that we could make the choice based on it.

I like Qogir as a theme and as an icon set. +1 for me on those.
Even though the people on pling seem to disagree with me

Innovative idea: add all ? Assuming size added to the installer is not an issue?

I’m a Papirus fan to be honest.
Out of those three, I love Tela the best though. I also like Qogir, but Tela’s even more vivid

Fun fact, Tela was based on Papirus

Well, one would need to be primary one. However, do note that it needs to be maintained as package in repos as well.

  1. Tela Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1279924/
  2. Qogiri Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1296407/
  3. Tela Circle Icon theme https://www.pling.com/p/1359276/

Just curious, but these arent in repos either

Correct. One of them will go in the repo as package maintained by @vinceliuice .

+1 Qogiri

Not a fan of single shaped icons only. Qogir shows there is a lot to gain if you do not have round icons only.

Same!!!
I like Tela (NOT -CIRCLE) because it follows the same concept but it’s so much more vivid.

#1 – Tela Icon Circles and Squares. I do like VinceLiuice’s mac looking Sierra “stop lights” I’m using for my windows.

Try the flat remix themes, they’re awesome!
I’ve given them a shot recently. I still prefer Orchis (made by vince too), but flat remix is definetly awesome and I love the mac style buttons, albeit recolored with graidents

My vote is for Tela Circle. I like the consistency of all the icons being circular across the whole set.

I don’t dislike any of the three though. Nice work!

I Like all the 3 options, I am a Papirus user, and is already a PPA, I allways add to my system, so is allways update with the system. If I had to choose between the 3 options I would choose the Qogiri, that looks like more complete.

I always prefer having icons be the same shape. I always will be using Numix Circle for that reason. But the Tela Circle Icon theme looks the best imo.

Tela Icon theme or Paper icon theme

My first pick is Qogiri, but I like the others too. Just not a huge fan of the circle theme for folders, not as a stock icon package anyway.

Now that I’ve looked, I like both the Tela and Qogiri sets, but not so keen on the one with circular folder icons. Either would be fine. Blue folders for default, but leave me the option to change the folder colours if I’m feeling fancy
